The six most common reasons people choose real estate as a career.

There are more reason's than six as to why people decide to enter a real estate career. Listed below are the six most common motivating choices mentioned when I have held interviews with interested career candidates. Let's see how they compare with your thoughts.

1.) Essential Lifestyle Product - since the beginning of time, shelter is an essential need for the human race. In our career, we help people with their lifestyle needs and wants. It is an exciting and rewarding journey to be a part of. Besides a personal residence, their is a vast range of real estate necessity's such as recreation/cottage property, commercial/investment real estate, and raw land sales to custom built homes.

2.) Freedom/Flexibility - real estate is a career where you decide the hours you are willing to work. If you desire to work long hours, you can. If you feel the need for a day off, you take one. Need a vacation? Nobody stops you from making these decisions when you become an Independent Contractor in real estate. Managed properly, a career in real estate can offer a balanced lifestyle and a comfortable living. Or, because you choose the hours you work, having a six or seven day work week is a decision away.

3.) Career Stability - you are the architect of your own destiny in real estate. Because the need for shelter is essential for all people, we always have work to do. With a proper work ethic, honesty and integrity in all your dealings, there is never a shortage of work to be had for a real estate agent. Regardless of the changing scales of economy.

4.) People Skills - a real estate agent is really all about helping people with the lifestyle choices they are planning in their lives. Meeting people from all walks of life and from every corner in the world, we adapt ourselves to the independent needs of each customer. Our people skills are constantly developing and it really is an important faucet of our career.

5.) Career Opportunities - most real estate agents begin their careers in residential sales. However, with on-going education, or accredited courses, doors are opened for the individual seeking to further their career in a wide range or real estate related careers such as Real Estate Appraisal, Property Management, Commercial/Investment real estate, to mention a few.

6.) Unlimited Income Potential - once you become established in a real estate career, you truly decide your income, and the sky can be the limit. With a proper business plan, a well defined goal and the willingness to deliver "exceptional service" to your customers, a real estate career allows you to shape your financial destiny.

New Real Estate Career.

The question I have been asked most often over the years is "why do people fail in their new real estate career?"

The sad reality is most new real estate professionals do not receive proper career training. Sure, the promise is made that you will be trained and programs are available to help you achieve your personal goals in real estate. And, that is true to some degree. In Winnipeg when you become a licensed real estate agent there is a mandatory three day training program for all newly licensed professionals. With technology today, the online resources to self-train are endless for all new and experienced real estate agents.

The truth is, it isn't enough for your new career. When you make the decision that you want to enter a new career, real estate sales, please do your homework. Find out exactly what training systems are available for you when you are doing your interviews with real estate Brokers. Ask other real estate professionals that you may know personally about the companies you are considering for your new career and what kind of training may be offered to help you in your new career. Making the right career choice at the start could make the difference between failure and success.

At Royal Lepage Top Producers we have a proven training program. We assess your first year career expectations. In your first five months of your new real estate career we provide you with weekly training sessions. Not only do we teach how to be successful in your new real estate career, but also how to "wow" your customers with service excellence. You see, we want you to succeed when you enter your new career with Royal Lepage Top Producers. This is why we commit all of our resources and experience in you at the start of your new real estate career.

If you are considering a new career in real estate, I welcome you to give myself a call, and with no obligation or pressure tactics, I will answer any questions you may have about being a successful real estate agent in Winnipeg.
